TRIBAL COUNCIL 1937-2015

Until 1990 when the Constitution was amended, nine members were elected annually for the tribal council. Those elected then chose officers of the council. Beginning in 1991 the selection of tribal council officers were made by popular vote.

Below are incomplete BIA records. The first listing shows a variety of council members elected at various times. The original Red Cliff Constitution and By-laws were approved on June 1, 1936; Martin Buffalo signed the document as Chairman and Alex F. Roye as Secretary.
