Program Name: Temporary Assistance for Needy Families Program (TANF)

Program Description:
The Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program replaced the Aid to Families with Dependent Children (AFDC), Emergency Assistance (EA), and Job Opportunities and Basic Skills Training (JOBS) programs under Title IV of the Social Security Act.

Eligibility Requirements Include (But Not Limited To):

TANF has a lifetime limit of 60 Months (5 years) for ALL participants. Months do not have to be consecutive.

TANF assumes everyone is able to work within their abilities.

Participants receiving TANF will be required to participate in program activities to the best of their abilities.

Families that are eligible for TANF will receive a grant distributed on a monthly basis. Grant Tiers are as Followed:

Tier 1 - $600.00 for parents with a High School Diploma/GED/HSED and ready for work participation.

Tier 2 - $530.00 Parents pending SSDI, SSI, Veterans, temporarily incapcitated or disabled for six months or less, providing proper documentation. A parent caring for a child with special needs. A parent who has not obtained a High School Diploma/GED.

Tier 3 - $500.00 An adult pregnat woman in her third trimester of pregnancy.

Grant amounts will differ depending on other resources available to participants. (Earned and Unearned Income).

Earned income is deducted using the NET pay. (Special Cirumstances may apply) Other unearned income is deducted dollar for dollar off the TANF grant amount (Special Cirumstances may apply).

TANF participants receiving TANF grants may also have the option to have vendor payment deducted form their checks such as for utilities/shelter expenses.

Participants who are eligible for TANF will also be Eligible for TANF Supportive Services (Upon funding availability) or

Participants may also be eligible for Crisis Prevention Assistance.

Note: Participants will be limited to 1 type of assistance per eligible family, per Each fiscal year year (October 1 - September 30).
